Thank you for contacting us. Your email inquiry to the Department of
State's Business Visa Center email address has been received. Please
read the important information below.
What the Business Visa Center Does
The Business Visa Center program assists businesses and organizations
located in the United States by explaining the visa process to those
companies that have invited current and prospective business travelers
to the United States who are applying for business, B-1, visitor visas.
The Business Visa Center will work with both the companies and the
consular officers, when needed, to communicate information effectively
between U.S businesses and the embassies and consulates worldwide.
Generally, the travel appropriate for a business, B-1, visitor visa
includes travel to consult with business associates, participate in a
scientific, educational, professional or business convention or
conference on specific dates, settle an estate, or negotiate a contract
(this is not an all inclusive list of allowable business-related visitor
visa activities). If a visa applicant has specific questions about
qualifications for a visa, he/she should contact the embassy or
consulate where he/she will apply for the visa.
If your inquiry relates to business, B-1, visitor visa travel, we'll
send an additional reply to your inquiry from the Business Visa Center
(businessvisa@state.gov). Please allow 5 working days for such a reply.
If your reason for getting in touch concerns another type of visa or
travel, please read on.
Items Not Handled by the Business Visa Center
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If the reason for travel relates to the types of
travel listed below, then it will not be handled further by the Business
Visa Center. This means this email is the only reply you will receive
from the Business Visa Center. The information below will tell you how
to get the assistance you need.
Is your company located overseas and your issue relates to business
related travel to the United States? If yes, the U.S. embassy or
consulate where the visa applicant will be applying is in the best
position to respond to any inquiry, or provide information about any
business facilitation program they may have to assist businesses in
their locale, since they handle visa application, processing, and
issuance. You may visit the appropriate embassy's or consulate's
website via
http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/emba..._1214.html for
additional information on procedures, including how to schedule an
interview appointment, pay fees, and much more.
Are you inquiring about a matter relating to travel to the United States
for someone to work temporarily or be employed in the United States? If
yes, you are seeking to come to the United States as a temporary worker
or for employment in the United States (H, L, O, P, and Q visas), you
must file a petition with DHS/USCIS which must be approved before you
can apply for a visa. While NAFTA workers (TN visa) do not require
petition approval, they are employment related. For more information
about temporary workers and petition approval, visit the USCIS website
at http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/tempb...worker.htm. For
information about temporary worker visas, including treaty
traders/investors (E visas) see the Department of State website at
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1275.html.
Are you inquiring about a matter relating to travel for a relative or
friend to come to the United States?
or
Is your inquiry related to another type of travel such as student,
exchange visitor, or another purpose of travel?
or
Is your inquiry about immigration to the United States for you, or a
family member or friend, to live in the United States permanently?
The first source of visa information is the Department of State's
website at http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html. As always, the
best source for the specifics on the visa process in a particular
geographic region is our embassy or consulate in that locale, as the
decision-making authority for any visa application lies solely with the
consular officer abroad. You may visit the appropriate embassy's or
consulate's website via
http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/emba..._1214.html for
additional information on procedures, including how to schedule an
interview appointment, pay fees, and much more.
Are you requesting a copy of the "Conferences in the United States"
listing? This listing is internal information which is provided to
embassies and consulates worldwide, and as such, is not available
publicly.
If you have any questions about visa matters not handled by the Business
Visa Center, you may call our Department of State, Visa Services, Public
Inquiries line at 202-663-1225, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm EST.
We cannot accept faxed inquiries. If you are located abroad, you may
choose to contact the embassy or consulate where you will apply for your
visa using the website information found at
http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/emba..._1214.html.
If you need to contact USCIS, visit their website http://uscis.gov
